Does religion have an impact when dating?

We all come from different walks of life. With every household being different, this means that there is potential for a difference in religious views. When jumping into the dating world, many of us may seek a partner that has the same, if not similar, religious background. Others may not care and find other characteristics more important. Whether we're seeking someone to share common interests with or seeking someone with a similar view on life, we all have our hands in the dating world.

Does religion play a significant role in your dating life?
Does the person you're talking to have to have the same beliefs?
Does religious have an impact on your relationship?

Religion doesn't really have any impact on dating, but it does come into play quite strongly if the couple get married. Once married the couple can have children and it is then that problems between mixed religious marriages can become stressful. Which religion is chosen to bring up the children in? Would it be the Father's religion or the Mother's?

Thinking of it this way means that we should consider religion before starting to date. It is a sad thing to get involved and fall in love with someone only to break up because of a difference in beliefs.

The reason why I go out on dates with someone is to determine if we're compatible or if we can look forward to a future together. Faith does have an impact for me because I want the relationship to be God-centered and if the other person knows God in a different way, then there would be a problem from the get go. There are religions that do not allow their members to marry outside of the church. Hence, it would be futile to date a member of that church unless you're willing to be converted to another religion or he is willing to leave his. I am currently dating a guy who is from the Catholic faith while I am a member of a Christian church (and a former Catholic). He is very much willing to be converted to my faith and has been attending church service for the past weeks. Hence, the difference in religion has no impact at all in our case.
