    Default Filipino holidays and traditions

Reading the thread on Christmas reminded me that the Philippines has a variety of holidays and traditions. Like the recent All Saints Day on November 1 and All Souls Day on November 2, those days have turned to be family reunions. When my father was still alive, we would go to the province to visit the tombs of my grandparents and afterwards we would have lunch in the houses of our relatives. For our part, we brought some items from Manila where we live as presents for those relatives in the province. That was our tradition during All Saints Day.

    Hi Corzhens!

I have been to some countries and I have to say, no one can celebrate Christmas better than Filipinos! As they say, "It's more fun in the Philippines!"

Oh boy, where do I even start these happy Filipino traditions. The first one that I've loved since I was a kid is how families try their best to re-unite the whole clan every Christmas. It's always fun to see your uncles and aunts who will surely give you money every Christmas season! Another tradition that I really loved is how people decorate for the festivities to come in their own homes, and how kids get presents and be really thankful to whoever gave it to them. But the best thing anyone could ask for is the FOOD! You can't think of the word diet when you have to spend the 24th of December in a Filipino household. They cook some of their best meals and welcome everyone (even their neighbours) to eat with them!

December is almost here, advanced merry christmas to you and your family!

As I read this post I am already excited because me and my foreign husband will go home this coming Holiday Season in our country. My family are very excited too because we will have bonding moments together again even for a month of stay and I always cherish those moments every time I go home. Celebrating Christmas Day in the Philippines is really the best where the whole family hear mass and eat the festive foods together. The gift giving is the most memorable part because you will see that everybody had a smile on their face when they will receive a gift even a small thing that they will cherish in their heart. Even the gift is not expensive what matter is the thought of giving. Advance merry Christmas also to you Corzhens and to your whole family too and as well to all the members of this Pinay Girl Talk Forum!
